The HMA Administrators Management Team

Managing Member  

Jean Buehler
 

Mrs. Buehler is the Managing Member of HMA Administrators, LLC and is a member of the Health Management Advisors Executive Coordinating Committee. Mrs. Buehler is also the Director of the Client Relations, Customer Service and Claims Departments for HMA Administrators. Mrs. Buehler brings over 20 years of experience managing Third Party Administration (TPA) claims and customer care departments for self funded ERISA plans. Mrs. Buehler and her HMA Administrators team focus their efforts on assisting companies in areas such as, member communications, preferred provider organization access, medical management, evaluating managed care access and cost effectiveness, as well as, developing and assisting with compliance issues including ERISA, HIPAA, PHI, COBRA and FMLA. Mrs. Buehler has worked closely with corporations in developing group benefits programs that attract and retain quality employees. This "Total Benefits Solution" is an ongoing quality review process that involves a comprehensive evaluation of a company's, Summary Plan Description (SPD), managed care program, overall benefit plan design, funding requirements and contribution percentages.

Prior to the insurance industry, Mrs. Buehler’s fulfilled her passion to help people as a teacher in the public school system. Her diverse and solid background and education provides the ideal foundation for her role at HMA Administrators. Mrs. Buehler is responsible for managing employee development and ongoing training to accomplish the HMA Administrators goal for first call resolution on all claims and customer service matters.

Mrs. Buehler was instrumental in the development and implementation of the HMA Healthy Lifestyles Program; an integrated wellness program offered to the members of employer’s ERISA plans. In her spare time Mrs. Buehler enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Buehler is also an avid golfer.




 

 

VP of Finance

 

Michael J. Emmi, MBA  

Mr. Emmi joined HMA Administrators, LLC in July, 2008 and is the Vice President of Finance. Prior to joining the firm, he spent several years working with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company out of their Boston offices.

Mr. Emmi has developed an industry understanding with both private and public sector companies. Mr. Emmi's specific area of expertise includes various aspects of Life Accident & Health, Property & Casualty, Individual Market, Reinsurance contracts and reporting, Balance Sheet Account Reconciliations, Data Reporting & Analysis, Customer Satisfaction as well as Process Improvement & Documentation.

With a personal interest in ERISA and self funded employee benefit plan administration, Mr. Emmi focuses his efforts on ensuring that the integrity of the HMA Administrators client assets are protected and reported upon accurately and timely, while yielding each client the highest allowable returns available. Mr. Emmi assists clients in determining and projecting their plan loss ratio's, analyzing and interpreting the financial results of their plan activity, as well as working closely with them to develop and forecast budgets that will meet their plan funding obligations.

Mr. Emmi is responsible for the billing administration and client escrow account auditing services for HMA Administrators, LLC and reviews the financial statements, internal control system evaluations, and claims funding process.

Mr. Emmi's leadership and reporting experience in the reinsurance industry, diverse background and broad depth of knowledge, serves him well in his role as the VP of Finance for HMA Administrators, LLC.



Medical Management Director
 

Geri Farrell
 

Geraldine Farrell is the Medical Management Director for HMA Administrators, LLC (HMA Administrators). Ms. Farrell works closely with the Health Management Advisors Executive Coordinating Committee.  Ms. Farrell's primary responsibility and focus is to maintain the company's dedication on providing quality case management, wellness management and disease management services to our clients.

Prior to joining HMA Administrators Ms. Farrell was a Case Management Director for the Guardian Life Insurance Company. Since 1987 Ms Farrell has been providing services in case management, utilization review, quality assurance, ortho/neuro nursing, medical claims management, second opinion access, state mandated benefits, home health care and medical equipment supplier coordination, etc. Ms. Farrell is also experienced in accident and health, auto liability and catastrophic cases including all aspects of transplant coordination.

Ms. Farrell assisted in the development of the HMA Administrators Pre-Certification and Cost/Benefit Analysis Protocols as well as the HMA Healthy Lifestyles prgoram. Ms Farrell's diverse and solid background and education provides the ideal foundation for her role at HMA Administrators.
